Alice Gakuen: Alice Academy

Synopsis: Mikan and Hotaru are the best of friends despite their differences in character. Mikan is an uber emotional girl and to top it off a huge klutz while Hotaru is indifferent and emotionless. Their friendship however comes to halt when Hotaru is to attend Alice Academy, where communication with the outside world is forbidden. Rather than being left behind Mikan decides to follow Hotaru and ends up learning about the world of Alice and her role in it.

Characters:

Sakura Mikan: Is a 10 year old girl who follows her best friend to Alice Gakuen. While at Alice Gakuen she discovers about the Alice power and that she too has one. Although skeptical at first but after a fight with one of her classmates, Natsume, she discovers she has the Nullification Alice. Along with finding out about her herself she also comes to find out about her classmates and despite their constant bickering she comes to care for Natsume and eventually falls in love with him.

Imai Hotaru: Is Mikan's best friend. Although it isn't as apparent due to their constant fighting and opposing personalities. She however will do anything to see Mikan smile and even defends her against bullies. She is gifted with the Invention Alice.

Hyuuga Natsume: Is the male lead in this anime. He is always trying to escape Alice Gakuen and that is when he first encounters Mikan and then begins their blossoming relationship. He is gifted with the Fire Alice and is the only special student in his school. Because of his powers he is feared by most in his school, including teachers. He is also used by the principal to complete missions in exchange for the protection of those he loves, his family, his best freind, Ruka, and eventually Mikan. There is one side effect to his powerful Alice however and those side effects could eventually lead to his death. :'(

Nogi Ruka:  Is Natsume's half-French and half-Japanese best friend. Just like Mikan and Hotaru, Natsume and Ruka have opposite personalities. Natsume is cold and rude while Ruka is warm and pleasant. He defends Natsume against those who pick on him and accuse of him of evil actions. He too comes to care for Mikan and he is a loyal friend to both her and Natsume. He is gifted withthe Animal Pheromone Alice. ;)

Despite being an anime about elementary school children, I did grow fond of their characters and wished them all the best in their adventures together. I personally think it's a super cute anime for all ages.
