Synopsis: Naoya, while job hunting, is taken to a magical land by a mysterious girl. In this magical world, he is placed into the harem of the succubus Princess Lotte. Due to her past, Lotte has come to hate men and surrounds herself with only women and one butler. Despite her selfishness, Naoya agrees to stay in her world with one condition, he would only stay if he can bring his daughter, Asuha, with him. 

Characters: There are tons of secondary characters but I decided to list only the three main characters. 

Astarotte Ygvar (Lotte): At only 10 years old, Lotte is the heroine of this series. Being a succubus, she is told that when she fully matures her body would need a regular supply of semen to keep her from wasting away. There is only one problem though, she has come to hate men and in order to deter the harem process she declares she wants the first member to be a human male.


Naoya Tohara: Is the hero of this series. One of Lotte's servants is allowed entrance to the human world and she brings Naoya to Ygvarland where he is to become the first member of Lotte's harem. This is not Naoya's first encounter with people from Ygvarland. 10 years prior, Naoya met Lotte's mother (he was 13) and he met her again when she returned a few years later to bring him Asuha. She was his daughter and a result of their previous encounter. He refuses to accept the fact that he is there as a member of Lotte's harem and insists that he is only there for emotional support.


Asuha Tohara: Just like Lotte, she is 10 years old. She is the daughter of Naoya and Queen Mercelida and that would make her Lotte's half-sister. She is a rambunctious and outgoing and easily befreinds Astarotte and the other school girls. She has an aversion to wearing underwear due to her cambion heritage. She is fully aware of her heritage and her half-sister but keeps it a secret.

I'm certainly not one for openness when it comes to sex but this anime, despite having a rather ecchi background to it, still has some cute qualities. I like the relationship that Lotte, Asuha and Naoya develop. They seem like a family, a rather strange one, but a family nonetheless. (This would definitely be an anime to keep away from the kiddies because of the sexual innuendos used throughout the anime.)

The story of the Arcane Family

Synopsis: On the island of Regalo, the Arcana Famiglia act as peacekeepers doing anything necessary to ensure that the people of Regalo go unharmed. The Arcana family utilize the power of Arcana, the power from tarot cards, in order to exercise their abilities. Mondo, the head of the Arcana Famiglia, is trying to find a successor through a duel called Arcana Duello and the winner will get to marry his daughter, Felicita. Two members of the Arcana  Famiglia are more interested in protecting Felicita's freedom than her hand. Together, the three young members of the Arcana Famiglia (Liberta, Nova and Felicita) fight to uphold their freedom in a world restricted by their pasts, futures and powers.

Characters: Just a heads up, there are a lot of characters in this anime!

Felicita: Is the only child of Mondo and is also the leader of the Sword. She has a contract with the 6th Arcana, The Lovers, which allows her to read people's hearts. Further into the anime she discovers she has another contract with the 10th Arcana- The Wheel of Fortune, which allows her to change the relationship of a tarocco and its host. She is rather innocent and pure despite how strict she is on herself and others.

Liberta: Shares a contract with the 0 Arcana, The Fool, and is also a solider of the Intelligence Division. He was rescued by Dante as a child but has no recollection of his past. His memories were sealed because of his uncontrollable power. His Arcana is equipped with the power to make whatever he says happen. 

Nova: Shares a contract with the 13th Arcana, Death, and is the Captain of the Holy Grail. He is Felicita's childhood friend and cousin. His powers allow him to put people to sleep as he did with his parents when they were planning a rebellion against Mondo. He is, however, able to reawaken his parents with the help of Felicita.

Debito: Shares a contract with the 9th Arcana, the Hermit. His Arcana allows him to become invisible. He is the Captain of the Coins and loves to flirt, even with Felicita. Despite his foul mouth and all, he is still seen as a good older brother figure to the trio.

Pace: Shares a contract with the 11th Arcana, Strengthand is the Captain of the Wands. His Arcana makes him as strong as a monster. He loves food, especially lasagna.

Luca: Is Felicita's personal butler. He shares a contract with the 14th Arcana, Temperance. He is an alchemist and yet is always seen doing all things domestic. It is never clear whether he has feelings for Felicita but then again he has been taking care of her since she was a child.

Dante: Shares a contract with the 4th Arcana, the Emperor, and is also the Head Captain. His Arcana allows him to manipulate or erase peoples memories. He is the most trustworthy and reliable people in the Famiglia and very popular amongst the people of Regalo.

Jolly: Is he is Mondo second in command and also the second highest ranking member in the Famiglia. he shares a contract with the 18th Arcana, The Moon, which lets him draw out a persons memory by force. He comes off cold-hearted due to his emotionless actions and words and is avoided by most on the island. His weapon of choice is also Alchemy.

Mondo: Shares a contract with the 21st Arcana, The World, he is also Felicita's father and the leader of the Arcana Famiglia. 

Sumire: She is Felicita's mother and shares a contract with the 20th Arcana, Judgement, which allows her to partake in fortunetelling. She is a refined, strict, japanese woman and loves her daughter and family very much.

Elmo: Is an artifical child created and raised by Jolly. He shares a contract with the 16th Arcana, The Tower.

My thoughts on this one seem to collide. I absolutely love the Italian influence on this anime. Their names and their mannerisms depict what some people classify as the Italian stereotype. At the same time, I do feel the anime was a bit rushed and it definitely ended way to early. A second season, in order to prolong the story line might have been better (but then again I only watched the Anime. I did not read the Manga or play the game). Still i would say its definitely worth watching. I personally fell in love with the characters and I hope you do too!

Waiting in the Summer

Synopsis: Have you ever wandered what to do during summer break? Well in this anime a group of friends decide to get through their long summer break by making a movie. Through this experience they not only learn about film-making but about themselves and the growing relationships between each of them. Going through a roller-coaster of emotions, helps these teens figure about life and love.

Characters:

Kirishima Kaito: Is a first year in high school who is also a videographer. While unaware of Kanna's feelings for him he falls in love for Ichika. Ichika later reveals her true identity to him and he doesn't seem to phased by it. They eventually confess their love for each other and start to date but an unexpected guest reveals that Ichika must return to her home.

Takatsuki Ichika: Is an extraterrestrial and also the female protagonist of this anime. Her ship crash-lands on Earth and Kaito, being in the wrong place at the wrong time (or maybe its fate?), ends up getting severe injuries due to the crash. In order to save Ichika saves him by transferring her nano-machine body cells into his body through a kiss. She decides to stay by his side to ensure that he recovers fully. She tries to hide the fact that she's alien but sometimes she slips and lets her true character reveal itself. 

Tanigawa Kanna: She is one of Kaito's closest friends. She is an outspoken and outgoing girl who has had a crush on him. Being a horrible drunk, her character adds some comedic relief to this otherwise love story. She helps Ichika confess to Kaito despite her own feelings but still has the courage to confess her own feelings and accepts her rejection with a smile. 

Ishigaki Tetsuro: Is one of Kaito's and Kanna's friend. Better keep up because here is where it starts to get complicated.. Tetsuro has feelings for Kanna but is aware of her feelings for Kaito but despite this knowledge he edges her on and is supportive of a relationship between the two. He is a smooth talker and appears to be a ladies man. He to confesses and accepts his rejection.

Kitahara Mio: Is a friend of Kanna's and has feelings for Tetsuro. Her character's remarks are innocent at first but then "somehow" end up turning into sexual remarks. She is a nudist but hides this from her friends because she is embarrassed. She confesses to Tetsuro  despite knowing that he has feelings for Kanna. After her rejection she cuts her short and her character seems to have matured. She offers words of advice to Tetsuro in order to help him confess to Kanna. After Tetsuro's rejection, Mio is, once again, there to comfort him and he then asks her on a date to the movies.

Yamano Remon: Is a third-year at the gang's school. She has a small figure but a very distinctive voice  She is generally cold but becomes Ichika's friend when she first arrived. She is a mischievous character and usually her schemes have an ulterior motive. A twist in her character is that she is an agent for the Men in Black.

I watched Ano Natsu de Matteru with a good friend of mine and we both absolutely loved this anime. It was both funny and cute. It definitely kept me hoping for a happy ending for not only Kaito and Ichika but for the whole crew. But here are some questions to peak your interest! Will they finish the movie? Will Ichika and Kaito keep their promise of love for each other? And, will Ichika return?

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

Synopsis: After the death of their friend Menma, childhood friends Jintan, Anaru, Yukiatsu, Tsuroko and Poppo begin to drift apart. One of them was completely devasted by her death that he withdrew from society and lived his days at home. One summer day, Menma's (present day) ghost appears to Jinatn and asks hi to help her fulfill her last wish. From that moment on the five friends have to set aside their differences to help Menma remember her wish and help her family and themselves move on.

Characters:

Yadomi Jinta "Jintan": When they were children, Jintan was the leader of the "Super Peace Busters". He was outgoing and energetic but after his mother's death and then Menma's death, he become distant and stayed at home. He liked Menma as a child and for that reason he believes that her ghost is a manifestation of his stress. Throughout the anime, he becomes attached to her so much so that he fears granting her wish because that would mean they had to part ways. One thing to mention about Jintan, is that he is the only one of the group that can see or hear Menma. :O

Honma Meiko "Menma": Menma died in an accident as a child and has now come back to have her wish granted. When she appears in front of Jintan, she is very talkative and lively despite knowing that she is dead.  Her ghost has aged but she still acts and sometimes speaks like a child. She can interact with her surroundings but isn't seen by Anaru, Yukiatsu, Tsuruko or Poppo. She holds no grudges against her friends for her death but hopes that they can move on so they can be reunited once again in the afterlife.

Anjo Naruko "Anaru": Anaru hides the fact that she is worried about Jintan from those around her. She is easily influenced and goes with the flow despite her opposition to some of her "friends" actions. She strove to be like Menma, as a child, but was envious of her relationship with Jintan. She is the closest to Jintan at the beginning and shares some of the pain from Menma's death. 

Matsuyuki Atsumu "Yukiatsu": Yukiatsu tries to hide the fact that Menma's death still bothers him and shows hateful feelings toward Jintan when he brings her up. He is a handsome, atheletic and popular guy with a bit of a skeleton in the closet. He is still haunted by his memories of Menma's death and what he believes to be the cause of it.

Tsurumi Chiriko "Tsuruko": Tsuruko, being the quiet one of the group, has a more serious and logical personality. She had feelings for Yukiatsu as a child and those feelings can still be seen as she acts as Yukiatsu's voice of reason and guardian at times. Her actions towards Anaru are different however; she scolds her for being a follower. Although she likes Yukiatsu she feels they will never be together because of his feelings for Menma. Despite those feelings she helps Menma pass over because she cherished their friendship as children and because she loved who Menma was.  

Hisakawa Tetsudo "Poppo": Poppo thought that Jintan was cool as a child and was thankful to the Super Peace Busters for accepting him and his awkward ways. He dropped out of school and travels around the world and does various part-time jobs to support his ways. He was Jintan's main supporter in trying to get the Super Peace Busters back together and was the only one who believed Jintan when he stated that Menma's ghost had appeared. He too harbors regrets about Menma's death and his role in it. 

This one was a tear-jerker. :'( I love how despite their histories and present inner-demons they were able to over come their differences to strengthen their friendships and help their friend pass on.

Alice Gakuen

Alice Gakuen: Alice Academy

Synopsis: Mikan and Hotaru are the best of friends despite their differences in character. Mikan is an uber emotional girl and to top it off a huge klutz while Hotaru is indifferent and emotionless. Their friendship however comes to halt when Hotaru is to attend Alice Academy, where communication with the outside world is forbidden. Rather than being left behind Mikan decides to follow Hotaru and ends up learning about the world of Alice and her role in it.

Characters:

Sakura Mikan: Is a 10 year old girl who follows her best friend to Alice Gakuen. While at Alice Gakuen she discovers about the Alice power and that she too has one. Although skeptical at first but after a fight with one of her classmates, Natsume, she discovers she has the Nullification Alice. Along with finding out about her herself she also comes to find out about her classmates and despite their constant bickering she comes to care for Natsume and eventually falls in love with him.

Imai Hotaru: Is Mikan's best friend. Although it isn't as apparent due to their constant fighting and opposing personalities. She however will do anything to see Mikan smile and even defends her against bullies. She is gifted with the Invention Alice.

Hyuuga Natsume: Is the male lead in this anime. He is always trying to escape Alice Gakuen and that is when he first encounters Mikan and then begins their blossoming relationship. He is gifted with the Fire Alice and is the only special student in his school. Because of his powers he is feared by most in his school, including teachers. He is also used by the principal to complete missions in exchange for the protection of those he loves, his family, his best freind, Ruka, and eventually Mikan. There is one side effect to his powerful Alice however and those side effects could eventually lead to his death. :'(

Nogi Ruka:  Is Natsume's half-French and half-Japanese best friend. Just like Mikan and Hotaru, Natsume and Ruka have opposite personalities. Natsume is cold and rude while Ruka is warm and pleasant. He defends Natsume against those who pick on him and accuse of him of evil actions. He too comes to care for Mikan and he is a loyal friend to both her and Natsume. He is gifted withthe Animal Pheromone Alice. ;)

Despite being an anime about elementary school children, I did grow fond of their characters and wished them all the best in their adventures together. I personally think it's a super cute anime for all ages.

Ai Yori Aoshi

Ai Yori Aoshi: Bluer Than Indigo

Synopsis: Kaoru Hanabishi, a college student, meets a damsel in distress( of sorts) in a kimono at the train station. She is looking for a house that happens to be in his neighborhood. He volunteers to show her the way but they end up at an abandoned lot. In order to help her find the "boy" she was looking for, she present Kaoru with a photograph. In this photo he identifies himself and his childhood friend Aoi Sakuraba. As it turns out she is his fiance and has come to Tokyo to marry him but rather than being a joyous occasion he is met with memories of his past. They decide to move into Aoi's summer home when things like love, girls, jealousy and drama begin to appear.

Characters:

Hanabishi Kaoru: Attends Meiritsu university and is a member of the photography club. His personality fits the good student type all the while still being average. He is the main protagonist of this anime and is the root of all the girls love interest. As a past member of the Hanabishi Clan, he harbors feeling of hate towards their cruel treatment of him and his mother, as his mother and father were never married and he was their illegitimate child. He thus decided to abandon his name and live on his own, forgetting his past and his family that is until he meets Aoi.

Sakuraba Aoi: Is seen as a "traditional" Japanese beauty because of her skills in cooking and house keeping. At a young age she and Kaoru were betrothed but since he left his Clan the marriage became nullified, not wanting to lose the love of her life she goes to find him. Her personality is shy and rather than thrive on her jealousy  she fights to keep it in under control around the many female tenants at her summer home, which she is the manager of.

Tina Foster: Tina is an American but spent most of her life in Japan. She also attends Meiritsu University and also is part of the photography club. She is a very promiscuous character (towards other females) loud and outspoken. She likes to drink and has a pet white ferret by the name of Uzume. Her background story and ending are both tragic. Not being able to fit in because of her ethnicity and upbringing she has a hard time "fitting in" and towards the end we find that although she truly loved Kaoru she was afraid to confess because of the fear of rejection.

Kagurazaki Miyabi: Being Aoi's caretaker and guardian, Miyabi is seen as a workaholic and stern woman but as her character develops you learn of her kindheartedness and her appreciation to Aoi and her family. She is the manager of the summer house and although she did not accept Kaoru st first, she has come to accept him because of his feelings for Aoi and Aoi's feelings for him.

Minazuki Taeko: Taeko is also a student at Meiritsu University and a new member of the photography club. She too, moves into the summer house and lives their as the housekeeper.She is a very clumsy girl but try her hardest at being a housekeeper (Warning: valuables were lost during this anime due to her character!). Big Shocker (A bit of Sarcasm), she too falls in love with Kaoru.

Miyuki Mayu: Also attends Meiritsu but not by choice. Like all the girls in this anime, Mayu also loves Kaoru. When she was 12, Kaoru cheered her up at a party and from then on she has harbored feelings for him. She tries her best at making Kaoru happy and takes a couple of lessons from Aoi. Her and Tina are total opposites but their relationship calls for some clashing arguments and moments that bring the "family" together.

Minazuki Chika: Is Taeko's cousin very tanned younger cousin. Chika comes to find out that Taeko likes Kaoru and therefore spends her time scheming and plotting how to get them to hook up. She comes to respect Karou, as an older brother, rather than fall in love with him.

Season 2: Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi

Synopsis: Two years have passed, Karou is now in grad school and the tenants are still as crazy as ever.

This anime is your standard "HAREM" story. In which a male is surrounded by a numerous amount of beautiful (inside and out) girls. The story is about love and family being able to overcome different background stories. A really nice family type anime despite some risque moments between Tina and the other female characters (I'll leave that up to your imagination)! ;)

Aishiteruze Baby

Aishiteruze Baby: I Love You, Baby

Synopsis: High school Romeo,  Kippei's life is turned around when his 5 year old cousin, Yuzuyu comes to live with him. Abandoned by her mother Yuzuyu finds a father figure in Kippei and Kippei finally finds something that makes him change his ways. He matures into a wonderful father figure and along the way falls in love with school's quiet girl, Kokoro.

Characters:

Katakura Kippei: On top of being his schools biggest "play boy", Kippei is also one of the nicest guys in school making him a double threat against all girls. His character however, makes a complete turn towards the opposite. He becomes a loving father figure for his cousin, Yuzuyu, when she comes to live with him. He leaves his play boy ways to wake up early and make Yuzuyu her lunch and walks her to and from school.

Sakashita Yuzuyu: Is a lively 5 year old girl who has just been abandoned by her mother. As she adjusts to her life with Kippei, she becomes  protective over Kippei especially when Kokoro comes into their lives.

Tokunaga Kokoro: Having lost her mother at a young age and her father to a remarriage, Kokoro is a quiet and lonely girl. She is one of Kippei's classmates but hates him for his play boy ways but that too changes as Kippei changes for Yuzuyu. Seeing him with Yuzuyu makes Kokoro fall in love with him.

In my opinion, this is a good story. A boy turns into a man when two women come into his life. This anime gives you the satisfaction of being able to witness such a change. Its a heart-warming story about what it is to be family, even in strange circumstances.

Acchi Kocchi

Acchhi Kocchi: Place to Place

Synopsis: This anime's story line follows the developing relationship between two high school students and the crazy schemes and shenanigans their friends have planned for them.

Characters:

Io Otonashi: He's a super smart and sometimes frisky high school boy who doesn't know what his actions and words do to the girls around him. He is definitely a catch! ;)

Tsumiki Miniwa: She is quiet and sometimes "dark" girl but when it comes to Io she is outspoken, bold and filled with passion. The situations she is placed in because of her feelings for Io often have a comedic effect.

Mayoi Katase: Is a "nerd". She specializes in creating experiments (such as robots or schemes)" that place her friends in crazy and hilarious situations.

Hime Haruno: Is a shy and "pure" girl. She often has nose bleeds due to Io's romantic words and actions. She is all about her friends and their happiness.

Sakaki Inui: Is the "Casanova" of the group. He is usually the one behind Io's romantic actions. Him and Mayoi both plot and plan the crazy schemes which lead their group into many adventures.

Overall, I think this Classic "Beginning of Romance" anime deserves praise for its comedic take on high school romance. It turns a classic situation in to a modern story that keeps you laughing and wanting more.
